SEM-EDX analysis of chemical composition of metals and ceramics

Both a routine inspection technique and a powerful investigation method, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM associated with Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) microanalysis enables a local or comprehensive analysis of the most diverse inorganic materials.

In addition, this technique can be used to perform a quantitative analysis both on solid samples measuring a few centimetres squared and on fragments, particles or residues measuring a few microns.

Some examples of our services:

  • Identifying metal alloys
  • Verifying the grade of a stainless steel
  • Determining the nature of coatings on metallographic cross-sections
  • Quantitative analysis of a technical ceramic
  • Identifying the phases present in a microstructure
