  Validation of watches movements

The validation of watches movements is performed through a set of accelerated ageing tests, which are simulating the real wearing conditions.

The tests can be carried out on finished products or on movement inserted in test cases (with dials and hands).

Some steps of the validation of a watch head
n As received water resistance test (ISO 2281-22810 or ISO 6425 for diving models)
n Chronofiable® ageing test (simulating about 6 months of wearing)
n Pull/push and rotation cycles on winding stem

n

Chronograph function test if applicable

n

Magnetic field test (ISO 764 for mechanical and quartz magnetic resistant models, at 1500A/m for other quartz movements)

n

Impact test (ISO 1413), excepted for some special models

n

Final water resistance test

The waterproof test is undertaken strictly according to the applicable standard, including the 5N radial loading on the crown and the pushers.

The winding up and time setting mechanism is tested by repeated pull/push cycles on the crown as well as rotation cycles on the stem.

The chronograph mecanism as well as the correctors are submitted to ageing cycles, with well defined repeating cycles on the functions.

Last, the behaviour of the watch head under magnetic fields and impacts conditions is checked in agreement with standard procedures. Impact test might be avoides in case of sensitive models.
